For years Dave has wondered why there are so many construction horror stories. Why isn't there more business professionalism in the construction industry? Dave has a decade of running hundreds of the log & timber industry’s major events all across the country and literally knows everyone in the ‘biz’. Scores of homes and structures are erected each year under his watchful eye. Each event he walked away with the observation that it is way too complicated & difficult for a consumer to build their dream home. CWB was formed to answer all of those questions and solve those problems.

David is a life long businessman with a ‘no excuse’ attitude. He expects no excuses from himself or any company or employee he hires. He has been an entrepreneur since college operating several different businesses in a variety of trades. There is a very obvious need in the log and timber building industry for one firm to handle your project from beginning to end – not just drop off a pile of wood on your lot. David is a native Hoosier, born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, moving to Indianapolis in 1990. He lives in Fishers, Indiana and is married with 6 children. David and his family are very active in the community and various church and school projects. He is building his very own timber frame room addition and model for CWB. Dave is also returning to college part time to finish his Construction Management - Engineering Technology degree.

 

 

David Watters

Master Framer

Our master framer is David Watters and has been in this industry for 23 years. Since he received a historical barn book at 8 years of age and proceeded to make a model timber frame bride at 14, David was hooked on timber framing. All of his jobs through high school and college were framing and cabinet making. He even used SIP panels on a remodel job in high school.

David has an Environmental Design BA from the University of Colorado with an emphasis in architecture in 1984. After finishing a few building projects in Colorado after college, her moved to New Hampshire in 1986 as an apprentice at an architect firm specializing in timber frame design.

In 1988-1992 he became his own general contractor, a dealer for Timberpeg and built several lake houses in the New Hampshire and Maine area.

1992 brought David his largest opportunity so far in his career and a move to Arkansas. Design and then renovate two historic 1900 era factories in the Ozarks. 2 years, 55 guys (no subs), 35,000 sq. ft. of Douglass Fir timber frame and many creative ideas and hurdles for the local historical society delivered the national design award winning Ozark Brewing Company - still operating today.

IN '97 David moved to Evergreen Colorado, started a Thistlewood dealership and built a lodge and several house for a Keystone area development. He maintained his dealership for 6 years building several 5000 sq. ft. homes and climaxing with a 12,000 sq. ft. house in Paducah KY.

The Thistlewood dealership brought him home to Indiana in 1998 and by 2003 after some time the the design build architects of Gunsmith and SLW, he was done being a dealer and started to produce his own frames.

Over the years David has delivered over 30 timber frame homes, one national recognized brew pub in the Ozarks, scores of architectural trusses and entry facades even a historical covered bridge project in Park Co.
