When you imagine your new log home you, see a beautifully designed, finished, and perfect-looking home. Of course, it is possible to achieve this, but before your home is ready to live in, there is one more important process – interior design and decoration.
So, what is the difference? It is in the definition of the work fields. According to the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, “interior designers may decorate, but decorators do not design.”
Interior decorators specialize in arranging interiors in various styles. They focus on designing the ornamental and movable aspects, which include color, accessories, furniture, furnishings, moldings and paneling. Decorators choose objects of art and style, but do not work on the technical issues of creating a living place.
An interior designer’s work is based on planning and functional design. The main task is to use the involved space effectively, to adapt it for the people who are going to use it. Their work requires an understanding of technical issues, f. e. lighting, electricity, acoustics etc. Among the types of interior design distinguish residential design, commercial design, universal design etc. Interior designers, for example can make a project out of a fireplace or kitchen considering all technical details.
Interior design does more than just beautify the space, but makes it easier and more efficient for living in.
